Flower Boy

Tyler, the CreatorPainting2017

Tyler, the Creator's manager introduced him to Eric White, a Michigan-born painter. At their first meeting Tyler showed him sketches and photos that captured the mood he wanted, and the two went back and forth over text and phone for several weeks before White produced a detailed composition.

The finished painting places Tyler in a field of sunflowers under a tangerine sky, with rolling hills behind him and a swarm of oversized bees circling around him. It is bright and warm, yet slightly unsettling, which suits an album about loneliness, longing and growing up. After some minor fine-tuning, Tyler approved the design and left White to finish the painting on his own.

Tyler has never seen the finished piece in person. Billboard's Tatiana Cirisano included White's cover among the best of 2017 and called it "surreal." A second, physical cover was designed by Tyler himself. Flower Boy was released on 21 July 2017.
