Run the Jewels 2
Every Run the Jewels album puts the same image on its cover in place of a portrait of the rappers: one hand making a fist and another making a gun. On the second album the two hands are wrapped and glinting in gold, floating on a flat red background.
The illustrator Nick Gazin drew the first two covers and helped develop the original hand logo, with El-P leading the visuals. El-P has described the group's design process as an art collective, with Killer Mike, Gazin and the photographer Tim Saccenti each adding pieces. Gazin told The Verge that the image is about coming back after having been beaten down.
Run the Jewels 2 was released in October 2014, first as a free download, and was named one of the best albums of the year. The fist and gun went on to appear on tattoos, murals and protest signs, and became one of the most recognisable logos in modern rap.
