400 Degreez
Juvenile's breakthrough album is pure Cash Money excess. The New Orleans rapper stands at the centre of a blazing gold and orange swirl, glittering with diamond effects, with his name in huge metallic capitals across the top.
The cover came from Pen & Pixel Graphics, the Houston studio run by the brothers Shawn and Aaron Brauch that designed most of the No Limit and Cash Money covers of the late 1990s. Shawn Brauch told uDiscover Music he did not think the cover was special at the time, calling it "another spiral job" built around one dominant colour and a diamond effect. He credited the success to the music: "Once the music got the momentum, people wanted to go and get it."
400 Degreez was released on 3 November 1998 and, carried by "Ha" and "Back That Azz Up," went multi-platinum. Its glittering, over-the-top cover is now one of the defining examples of the Pen & Pixel style that shaped the look of Southern rap.
