IGOR

Tyler, the CreatorPortrait2019

The cover of IGOR is a stark black-and-white portrait of Tyler, the Creator in a blond bowl-cut wig, set against a flat pink background with tiny text. It introduced Igor, the lovesick character whose story runs through the album.

Each of Tyler's albums has two covers, one by Tyler himself and one by another artist, and for IGOR the second came from Lewis Rossignol, an illustrator in Portland, Maine. Tyler contacted Rossignol on Instagram about six months before the album's announcement, saying it was for an art project, and sent him reference photos of the blond wig, sunglasses, suit and gold teeth. Rossignol went through several versions, with Tyler's handwriting added to the jacket, and Tyler then told him: "I know I said it was going to be for an art [project], but I think I'd rather use it for my album."

IGOR was released on 17 May 2019, debuted at number one and won the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Rossignol's portrait was used for the vinyl edition.
