Ridin' Dirty

UGK's third album shows Pimp C and Bun B in the back of a car at night, looking out over their shoulders, with the group's red crest logo in the centre and the title in gold script below. Bun B told Complex that the cover is meant to be the two of them looking back as carjackers approach, and the inner sleeve shows the Botany Boyz playing the carjackers.

The duo from Port Arthur, Texas made Ridin' Dirty with almost no radio play or video support, and it still sold strongly on word of mouth. Pimp C's slow, soulful production and Bun B's precise verses on songs like "One Day" and "Murder" made it the blueprint for Texas rap.

Ridin' Dirty was released on 30 July 1996. The car on the cover belonged to their friend C-Note, and the image of the two men watching their backs fits an album full of danger, loss and survival. Pimp C died in 2007, and the record remains the most respected in Southern rap.
